GPPr
Many location services gain added relevancy when mobile
users travel across borders to less familiar places. For
that reason, GPPr (Genasys Positioning
Platform Roamer) equips the Operator with the ability to
manage the delivery of LBS in roaming scenarios.
GPPr can be integrated with an operator's LES, such as
GPP, or location server to provide location-based services
to their subscribers when roaming in other networks (Out-Roaming)
or when a foreign subscriber is roaming in the network where
GPPr is installed.
GPPr meets the international standards established by GSMA
for the correct routing of location requests based on requesting
operator, the operator whose user is to be located, and
the network in which the user is roaming.
These policies can be configured by the system administrator
either globally or per application. Depending on the agreements
that exist between operators, other scenarios can be defined
depending on the type of user (local or remote), the application
requested (local or remote), and the network in which the
user is roaming.
In summary, GPPr extends the capacities of the location
enabling server in the following ways:
- Management of settings for foreign operator networks,
defining the permissions they possess according to valid
roaming agreements.
- Connections with foreign location systems. GPPr provides
the OMA protocols MLP and RLP as well as the EMLP (Ericsson
MLP) for the management of requests to and from remote
systems.
- Extended permission settings for applications to cover
possible roaming scenarios.
- Extended user privacy settings to cover permission to
be located when outside the home network.
- Extended billing data to generate complete CDRs for cases
when other operators have participated in the location of
a user.
