Genasys

company history

Genasys II Spain, S.A. (Genasys) is the core of a spanish owned group of companies with world wide activities.

In its conception, Genasys was formed in 1994 as the Spanish subsidiary of Genasys II Pty Ltd, an Australian company with headquarters in Sydney.

Genasys Spain began its journey distributing the GenaMap product family internationally and providing design, development, and delivery of solutions based on those products. Through these activities, the technical consulting team honed its skills in GIS system integration, application development, and the design and generation of business-oriented geospatial data models.

Near the end of 1998, a management buy-out took place resulting in the creation of a holding company called Investment Fund Continental, S.L. (IFC). At this time, while continuing to distribute GenaWare products and deliver related solutions, Genasys was developing a strong name in the telecommunications market through the delivery of geospatial data models, network planning and deployment services, and GIS technical consulting.

Building upon its experience with telecommunications sector and the use of geospatial information, Genasys entered the mobile location services market by launching the Genasys Positioning Platform (GPP) in 2000. GPP acts as a highly flexible and feature-rich platform for the secure provisioning of location based mobile applications.

Through participation with the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA), development of GPP has continued with a commitment to the use of standards for interconnectivity and communications that guarantee subscriber privacy and manage information according the authorizations or limitations set by each user. Since its initial release, GPP has been installed for mobile network operators in Spain, Portugal, Brazil, and Mexico.

In mid-2004, IFC reached an agreement with Elderslie Finance Corporation (EFC), owners of GenaWare Intl Pty Ltd., to form a new company called Genasys Holding, S.L. This new company now possesses Genasys and GenaWare as subsidiaries. This opens a new process of sharing of resources and creates an international network of offices to serve the needs of clients of both companies all around the world.
