Genasys selectes GIS-Mart as key regional distributor for
the GenaMap Product Suite
Genasys is pleased to announce the availability of distribution
and first line support for the GenaMap Product Suite in
sub-Saharan Africa through South Africa-based GIS-Mart.
Zoltan Szecsei,
Managing Director of GIS-Mart comments of his company's
selection as regional partners: "I have been working
with GenaMap for more than 17 years through our sister business
Geograph, a GIS development and data capture services company.
In all that time, I've not used a GIS platform more useful
for application development, topology building, or data
capture. I'm looking forward to building up a network of
regional GIS integrators geared towards specific sectors.
I'm convinced it will be easy to illustrate to them the
benefits of the system, both in terms of its technical strengths
as well as its economic value."
GenaMap first came on the scene in the early 80s and over
the next few years became one of the leading names in the
GIS world. However, in the 90s, poor management decisions
led to a decline in the system's popularity and by the year
2004, GenaMap had faded into the background, despite its
core strengths and competitive advantages as a development
platform. That is when Genasys stepped in to buy out previous
GenaMap management, GenaWare. Genasys CEO Pablo Colom explains,
"We brought GenaMap into the Genasys product line because
because we feel that the product has a great deal of unrealized
potential. Its processing capacity and flexible scripting
language enable the rapid development of complex and powerful
custom GIS solutions. Like GIS-Mart, Genasys also has a
long and fruitful history with the GenaMap product and we're
keen to spread the word."
Version 9 of the GenaMap Product Suite was released in May
of this year, the first version of the product released
under the Genasys brand. "We've made it clear to our
GenaMap customers that with Genasys management, there has
been a redoubled commitment to the future of this product
and to growing its client base. To do so, we are building
a network of professional and experienced GIS integrators
to act as regional distributors. The partnership with GIS-Mart
is first and excellent step in that direction."
GenaMap is currently distributed and supported through
Genasys offices in Madrid, Sydney, and Raleigh, NC (USA)
as well as through distributors in Colombia, Argentina,
Holland, Germany, Turkey, and now South Africa.
